The ODSA 2006 conference, to be held at the University of Rostock, continues the ODSA series following previous conferences in 1997 and 2000. The University of Rostock was founded in 1419 and is the oldest university in Northern Europe. The old Hanse-town Rostock is located about 200 km north of Berlin at the Baltic coast.
The conference aims at the interactions between several aspects of Discrete Mathematics, Mathematical Optimization, Theoretical Computer Science, and their applications. In particular, the scope of the conference includes combinatorial optimization and algorithms on discrete structures, extremal problems in posets, design theory, coding theory, and graph theory.
Invited Speakers |
Charles J. Colbourn (Tempe) | Martin Golumbic (Haifa) |
Georg Gottlob (Oxford) | Horst W. Hamacher (Kaiserslautern) |
Gyula O.H. Katona (Budapest) | Majid Sarrafzadeh (Illinois) |
Registration and Conference Fee |
To register for the conference please complete our registration form. The deadline for registration is July 31, 2006. steps you are at the beginning of the street "Freiligrathstrasse".
About 100 meters down the street you will find the restaurant
"Olympia" on the left. The conference office will be opened from

In the morning sessions we will have the talks of the invited speakers, while
the afternoons are for the contributed talks in parallel
sections.
The schedule is now available. (last update of online version: 24/08/2006)
On Tuesday evening, there will be a reception on a river-boat. Click here for more information on our boat excursion. For companions, and those who intend to stay longer in Rostock or its beautiful neighborhood, click here.
Contributed Talks |
Submission of abstracts is closed now.
The program booklet
containing schedule and abstracts is now in press and all
abstracts are sent to Electronic Notes in Discrete Mathematic as announced.
You will receive a copyright transfer form (referring to an article with the title of your abstract) from Elsevier which needs to be returned.
We quote from the publisher the following statement:
"the publication of an abstract or extended abstract in this journal will
NOT restrict the author(s) from publishing a full-length article on the
same topic and with the same title in another journal (possibly with
another publisher) provided that the original publication is sufficiently
enhanced (i.e. approximately doubled in size)."
Abstracts are now available from
Electronic Notes in Discrete Mathmatics 27 (2006)
.
Accommodation |
Rooms for participants of ODSA 2006 have been reserved by the conference organizers in two hotels: Intercity Hotel Rostock and Ibis Hotel Rostock. See here for more details. As a general remark, we like to mention that Rostock is a major tourist destination. Therefore, we recommend early booking If you need further assistence, please, contact Tilo Klembt at odsa@uni-rostock.de with subject "accommodation".
How to get to Rostock |
Rostock can be reached from Berlin, Hamburg or Frankfurt (airports TXL, HAM or FRA) by frequent trains departing usually in a two-hour-tact from Berlin, Hauptbahnhof, or Hamburg, Hauptbahnhof, or Frankfurt, Flughafen, respectively. See the online timetable in English or German.
The locations of our conference are marked on a map of Rostock which can be reached here. If you click on the map24 button and then on the details button for one of the locations you will find a link to a route finder tool which might be helpful if you arrive by car.
Conference Proceedings |
There will be a special issue of Discrete Applied Mathematics (DAM) with contributions to the conference. Submitted papers will be refereed according to the usual procedures. Proceedings of ODSA 1997 and ODSA 2000 appeared as DAM Volume 95, No. 1-3 and Volume 138, No. 1-2.
The deadline for submission will be October 15, 2006. Submissions during the conference are very welcome.
